Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute has over 2,400 personnel engaged in research in a large variety of disease areas, clinical settings and research laboratories. Director, Indigenous Health Research, VCHRI
The Director of Indigenous Health Research will play a leading role in the development of the VCHRI Indigenous Health Research Unit, overseeing strategic initiatives aimed at advancing the health of Indigenous communities in B.C. in alignment with the priorities of Vancouver Coastal Health and Indigenous community partners. Collaborating closely with the University of British Columbia, the role will involve leading and coordinating the strategic direction, operations, and collaborative initiatives of the VCHRI Indigenous Health Research Unit to promote Indigenous health equity, cultural safety, and self-determination, while also fostering research excellence and community partnerships.
The successful applicant should possess experience and education equivalent to an advanced degree (Ph.D., MD, or equivalent) in a relevant field such as public health, epidemiology, Indigenous studies or a health-related discipline.
Communications Lead, Research, VCHRI
This position offers a pivotal role in planning, coordinating and executing VCHRI's communication strategy. Responsibilities include extensive research, writing and editing, as well as organizing events, managing social media, overseeing publications, and handling external affairs. Additionally, it involves addressing media relations issues, responding to requests for information and interviews, and supporting researchers by providing media escorts, troubleshooting and offering crisis communication counsel.
Director, Centre for Gender and Sexual Health Equity
The Director, Centre for Gender and Sexual Health Equity (CGSHE) is responsible for implementing the research strategy, supporting the research of investigators and research scientists in the Centre, developing and maintaining partnerships to ensure faculty/research scientists are supported by the organization and host institutions to effectively conduct their scholarly activities. The Director oversees the activities of CGSHE, including grants, research contracts, and compliance with UBC and VCH research policies.
The Director will contribute to fostering an environment that promotes inclusivity and embodies values of respect, integrity, compassion, collaboration, and equity. Director, Vancouver Prostate Centre
The Director, Vancouver Prostate Centre (VPC), is responsible for implementing the research strategy, supporting the research of investigators and research scientists in the Centre, developing and maintaining partnerships to ensure faculty/research scientists are supported by the organization and host institutions to effectively conduct their scholarly activities. Working closely with the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute, the Director oversees the activities of the VPC including grants, research contracts, and compliance with UBC and VCH research policies. The incumbent is a member of relevant research committees of the UBC Faculty of Medicine and VCH.
The Director creates an environment and culture within the Centre that inspires, facilitates and supports research. The Director is responsible for fostering the highest standards of research, and advocates for scholarly integrity and research excellence in collaboration with partners. The Director will support faculty, post graduate fellows and residents, graduate students, undergraduate students, and staff by actively seeking ways to foster excellence in research and scholarship and supporting the dynamic interplay among teaching, learning, and research activities.
