Reasons to Participate

Researchers at VCHRI are world leaders in turning discoveries into clinical care that impacts lives in British Columbia and beyond. With your support, our research improves health outcomes and unlocks the potential of new medication, treatments and medical devices. Your participation today brings hope for the future.

Today’s treatments are available thanks to people who participated in research. By participating in research, you may:

  • Help researchers find ways to treat and prevent disease, and understand the effects of new medications or therapies
  • Help expand and advance medical knowledge
  • Help future generations by contributing to the well-being of society

Getting involved in research

Once you find a study that interests you in our study directory, you can reach out to the research team. The research team will explain the study purpose and procedures to you, and what it means to participate.

If you meet the study criteria, you will be asked to sign an informed consent form. Informed consent is an ongoing process of learning and understanding about a research study that will continue throughout your study participation.

Participation in research is voluntary

You have the right to decide if you want to take part. You may withdraw at any time and your information will be protected and kept confidential.
