Purpose of Study
The purpose of this study is to understand how to assess for shoulder and arm problems women may experience related to breast cancer and its treatment and to help women know when it may be appropriate to seek physiotherapy care.
Eligibility
Individuals are eligible to participate if they are:
- Born female
- Aged 19 or above
- Able to understand and communicate in English
- Diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer (Stage 0-3A)
- Received breast surgery (lumpectomy or mastectomy) on one side of the body with axillary lymph node dissection or sentinel lymph node biopsy, with or without immediate breast reconstruction using temporary implants, permanent implants or tissue expanders
- Received breast cancer surgery at one of the following hospitals: Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital or Surrey Memorial Hospital
- After receiving breast surgery, are scheduled to undergo (within the next six weeks), are currently undergoing or have completed radiation therapy (within the last two years) at BC Cancer Vancouver
