Biography
Dr. Hu is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Otolaryngology, Department of Surgery, University of British Columbia. She is subspecialized in care of the professional voice, airway, and swallowing disorders. She graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto, trained in residency in Otolaryngology at Western University, and completed a Laryngology fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. She worked in Philadelphia at Drexel University for 5 years prior to joining the UBC faculty in August of 2017.
Dr. Hu is currently the Undergraduate Medical Education Director for the ENT Division at UBC where she has a leadership role in training the UBC medical students. She is actively involved with research and she is the author of 85 peer reviewed papers, 11 book chapters, and 70+ conference presentations. Dr. Hu has received grant founding from the Michael Smith Foundation, BC Otolaryngology Society, American Academy of Otolaryngology and UBC Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Hu is the recipient of local, national, and international awards, including the Harold Myers Award for Distinguished Service from Drexel University, the Physician 40 under 40 Award from the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Dr. Hu speaks fluent Chinese and looks forward to serving the multicultural population in Vancouver.
