Biography
Dr. Brittany Bingham is a member of the shíshálh nation and holds an MPH and PhD from Simon Fraser University (SFU). She is an assistant professor in the Division of Social Medicine at the University of British Columbia and adjunct faculty in the SFU Faculty of Health Sciences.
Dr. Bingham has worked in various capacities in research with Indigenous communities and policy for over 17 years. She specializes in community-driven research drawing upon Indigenous methods with focus on health equity and improving health experiences and outcomes for Indigenous peoples. She is passionate about Indigenous women’s health, gender equity, implementation science, health systems research, planetary health, cultural safety and reconciliation.
Dr. Bingham is currently principal investigator of a Canadian Institutes of Health Research grant investigating access to sexual health care among Indigenous women/LGBTQ2S+ peoples. Her program of research aims to make contributions to the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG), 2SLGBTQQIA+, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and In Plain Sight Calls to Action and Recommendations.
