Biography
Dr. Chin is a graduate of the Queen's University, Faculty of Medicine, 1996 and completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Queen's University in 2001. He completed a one year fellowship in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine with emphasis on knee and shoulder reconstruction surgery at the University of Western Ontario in 2001. In addition, he also completed a second fellowship in Adult Shoulder and Elbow Reconstruction Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in 2002. Dr. Chin is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. He is an active member of the Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine and is a candidate member of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Chin is a member of the Clinical Faculty in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of British Columbia. He has cross appointments to the Divisions of Hand and Upper Extremity and Athletic Injuries and Arthroscopic Surgery. Dr. Chin is an active staff member of the Vancouver General and UBC Hospitals. Prior to joining the Department of Orthopedics at UBC, he was in private community practice in Nanaimo with full privileges at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. During his tenure on Vancouver Island, he was involved with several major sports teams on Vancouver Island such as namely the Nanaimo Clippers and Port Alberni Bulldogs hockey teams in the BCHL. He also helped establish the Central North Vancouver Island Sports Medicine Clinic. He has specific interest in knee, shoulder and elbow reconstruction surgeries that involve arthroscopy, joint/limb realignment (ie. osteotomies) and joint replacement (partial or total).
